What Happens When Your Ibiza Wedding Venue Changes Two Days Before the Wedding?
As an Ibiza bridal hair and makeup artist, I've seen a few unexpected things over the years. But this was definitely a first.
Two days before Alex's wedding, I sent her a message saying I couldn't wait to see her on Thursday.
Her reply was:
"At the moment... I don't even have a venue."
Not exactly the message any bride wants to be sending 48 hours before walking down the aisle.
Alex and her fiancé had planned their wedding at Juntos House, but due to restrictions that week, they were told the celebration couldn't go ahead there with music. They were given the option of having the wedding in complete silence, which obviously wasn't the atmosphere they'd imagined for one of the biggest days of their lives.
Thankfully, something pretty incredible happened.
Juntos House and their amazing wedding planner, Edyta from Bliss Weddings, worked together behind the scenes and somehow managed to move the entire wedding to Finca Delica. If you know Ibiza wedding venues, you'll know just how special Finca Delica is. It's one of the island's most beautiful luxury venues, and the fact it happened to be available on their wedding date honestly felt like fate.
I remember telling Alex not to worry. I knew the day was going to be amazing. It just wasn't going to happen where any of us had expected.
Why Bridal Trials Matter
I'd actually met Alex weeks before for her bridal trial, and it's such a good example of why I always recommend having one if you can.
We didn't just settle on the first hairstyle.
We tried everything.
Alex has naturally wavy hair and brought lots of extensions with her, so we created a full mermaid wave using every single one. It looked gorgeous, but the more we looked at it, the more we both realised it just didn't feel like her.
That's exactly what a trial is for.
It's not about getting everything perfect straight away. It's about experimenting, changing your mind and leaving knowing exactly how you want to look on your wedding day.
By the end of the trial we'd simplified everything.
Instead of lots of volume, we decided on soft, glossy, bouncy hair that felt effortless and elegant.
Wedding Morning at Finca Delica
By the time the wedding morning arrived, the venue drama was behind everyone.
There was such a lovely atmosphere while everyone got ready. You honestly wouldn't have guessed what had happened just two days before.
For Alex's hair, I wanted that polished, luxury blowout look, but I also knew Ibiza humidity wasn't going to be kind to a traditional blow dry.
So although it looked like a beautiful bouncy blowout, I actually created the shape with my tong. It gave exactly the same finish but with much better hold throughout the day.
When we placed her long Spanish-style veil over the top, everything came together perfectly.
Sometimes the Best Weddings Aren't the Ones That Go Perfectly
Looking back, nobody talks about the stress of changing venues anymore.
They talk about the incredible day they had.
They talk about Finca Delica, the amazing team who pulled everything together and a wedding that somehow became even more special because everyone worked so hard to make it happen.
As suppliers, we all want our couples to have the wedding they've dreamed about. Sometimes that means adapting, staying calm and finding solutions when things don't go to plan.
Watching Alex walk down the aisle, you'd never have known she'd been wondering where she'd even be getting married just 48 hours earlier.
Ruthie's Tip
If there's one thing I've learnt from weddings in Ibiza, it's that flexibility is everything.
Weather changes, plans change and sometimes venues even change. The best weddings aren't the ones where nothing unexpected happens. They're the ones where you've surrounded yourself with experienced suppliers who stay calm, solve problems and make sure you can still enjoy every moment.
Because at the end of the day, that's what you'll remember.
Not the last-minute changes.
Just how incredible it all felt.
I can’t wait to hear from you and be part of your wedding story
