One last summer bride: reflecting on my 2026 Ibiza wedding season
On Saturday, I got Rosy ready for her wedding at Can Rafal, my last bride of the summer wedding season in Ibiza. Her lace De La Vali dress had the most beautiful high neckline and sleeves, and her hair and makeup felt completely her: relaxed, natural and quietly special.
It was a lovely wedding to finish on. Although “finish” might be stretching it slightly, as I went straight from Rosy’s wedding to another bridal trial!
There are still plenty of trials in the diary, and one November bride to look forward to. But before moving into the next chapter, I wanted to look back on a season that has helped me find such a lovely rhythm in my work.
Rosy’s bridal hair: natural texture and a change of plan
At her trial, Rosy had pictured a low bun with loose pieces around her face. By the wedding day, she’d decided she wanted those pieces swept back and the bun sitting a little higher.
We settled on a position just below a mid-height bun, high enough to clear the neckline of her dress. It’s a small detail, but the relationship between your hairstyle and your dress can make such a difference to the finished look.
Rosy has naturally wavy, curly hair, so I enhanced that texture with tongs and carried it through the bun. With everything swept back, the movement in her hair kept the style soft and relaxed.
Minimal bridal makeup that still makes a difference
Rosy doesn’t wear much makeup, so we kept her wedding makeup really minimal.
At her trial, she told me she’d never seen her eyes look so big. I’d used only the lightest matte shades from my Makeup by Mario palette to subtly sketch out her eye shape. There was very little product involved, just carefully placed definition.
That’s something I love about natural bridal makeup. Small adjustments can make a noticeable difference while still feeling comfortable for someone who usually wears very little.
For her cheeks and lips, I used Merit Flush Balm in Fox, giving everything a soft, natural flush. Her eyebrows are one of her favourite features, so I kept them fluffy and made sure they still felt like hers.
I also did the makeup for Rosy’s bridesmaids and mum, with Naomi joining me for their hair. Alexandra from MaCherie brides was the wedding planner. We work together a lot, and it was lovely to close the summer season alongside familiar faces.
Your bridal look can evolve after your trial
Rosy’s change of hairstyle reflects something I’ve seen with brides throughout this season. You might love your trial look and then realise, as the wedding gets closer, that you’d prefer something slightly different.
Perhaps you’ve had another dress fitting, thought more about how you want your hair around your face, or simply worked out which details feel most like you.
There’s room for that.
For me, a bridal hair and makeup trial is also a chance to understand you: what you notice when you look in the mirror, which features you love, and what feels like too much. Those conversations help me interpret the changes you ask for later.
My advice is to tell your artist as soon as your ideas start to shift. You don’t need the technical language. Explaining what you liked, what you felt unsure about and what you’d prefer gives us something useful to work with. Bigger changes are especially helpful to discuss beforehand, so we can give them the time and planning they need.
Feeling confident with your Ibiza wedding hair and makeup artist
Planning a destination wedding means trusting people with important parts of your day, often from another country. I know that choosing your Ibiza wedding hair and makeup artist is about the experience as well as the photographs.
You want to feel listened to. You want to be comfortable saying that something isn’t quite right. And you want to recognise yourself when you’re ready.
This year, I’ve felt particularly settled in that part of my work: listening, asking questions and understanding what each bride really means when she describes her look.
Every bride brings different preferences, different hair and a different relationship with makeup. Finding the right approach for each person has been one of the most rewarding parts of my 2026 wedding season.
A November wedding and 21 brides to look forward to
The summer season may be over for me, but 2026 still has one more wedding in store. My November bride lives here in Ibiza and is getting married in the cathedral in Dalt Vila. I’m excited to have a winter wedding to look forward to as the island changes pace.
And with 21 brides already booked for 2027, next year is already taking shape.
To every bride who trusted me with her hair and makeup this season, thank you. I’ve loved getting to know you, hearing your plans and helping you feel ready for your day.
